Our vision for Geode Labs

Geode Labs builds personal AI assistants. When yours arrives, it is already capable of doing the things you expect from artificial intelligence: talking through ideas, helping with work, writing, planning, searching, explaining and thinking alongside you. What makes it different is what sits underneath it. Every Geode Labs assistant comes with a Yu: a private intelligence system built around the person it belongs to.

Your Yu starts mostly empty. There is no personality waiting inside, no completed profile, and no machine that has already decided who you are. You build it over time from the parts of your life and work that are useful to carry with you: your people, memories, knowledge, preferences, decisions, examples, standards and patterns. Your assistant can help find the pieces. You decide which ones belong.

This is different from how most technology gets to know you. The other guys watch. They follow what you click, search, buy, read and say, connect it to everything else they can see, and make increasingly sophisticated assumptions about who you are. Artificial intelligence makes that kind of surveillance remarkably powerful. At Geode Labs, we care enough to ask. Your assistant can notice something or propose a connection, but it does not get to quietly turn an inference into a fact about you. You can confirm it, correct it or throw it out.

Your Yu is powered with Context Coins. You earn them by participating in the world: answering questions, reflecting, learning, adding useful context and confirming the things worth keeping. The coins power Yu and open more of it as you go. Over your first 365 days, there is always somewhere else to go, something else to understand and another part of your Yu to build.

Context Coins are also yours to spend. The Geode Labs Store contains things for the world you are building and the assistant living inside it: customization, collections and other pieces that become available as you go. Not everything has to be meaningful. Sometimes you should be allowed to spend the currency generated by your inner life on a very good pair of robot boots.

The University is part of Yu too. Learning earns Context Coins because understanding the intelligence you are working with is part of building a good personal AI system. The University teaches you the useful parts: how models work, why they forget, what context changes, why they hallucinate, how instructions affect them, what tools can do and how to tell when an extremely confident machine has absolutely missed the point. You do not have to become an AI expert. You should understand enough to remain in charge of one.

Your assistant develops alongside your Yu. Geode Labs releases customization drops, collections and other pieces throughout the journey, including randomized selections you may never see twice. Some are common. Some are rare. Sometimes chance is kind to you. The Store exists for the other times. The assistant you started with can become increasingly specific to you on the outside while Yu becomes increasingly specific to you underneath.

A Yu can eventually contain a lot, which is why having access to it does not mean having access to all of it at once. Your assistant takes the context that belongs to the task in front of it. A project question does not need every memory you have ever saved. Connecting a workspace does not open every file inside it. One question does not open every door in Yu. When your assistant uses your context, Geode Labs shows you what it used.

When your assistant needs an outside model, we do not hand that provider a permanent Geode identity and let it quietly assemble its own version of you. Requests are separated from your stable Geode account through randomized identifiers, and only the context needed for that request goes with them. The model gets what it needs to do the job. It does not get your whole Yu.

The same principle applies when what people contribute can help Geode Labs improve the wider system. Useful pieces can teach us something without becoming somebody’s dossier. Contributions used beyond an individual Yu are anonymized and randomized so they cannot simply be stitched back together into a coherent profile of the person they came from.

We never sell or monetize your personal data. Context Coins are not payment for disclosure, and your private life is not inventory. Your Yu belongs to you. You decide what enters it, what remains, what changes, what disappears, what your assistant can use and what is allowed to leave.

The artificial intelligence underneath your assistant will change. Better models will arrive. Providers will change. New tools will become possible. That is expected. Your Yu is built around the part of the system that should not have to start over every time the technology does.
